Cranbrook Stage 1 Master Plan project is comprised of a combined Preparatory and Junior School on Cranbrook’s Dangar Precinct, Rose Bay Campus. The facility in the proposed development include general purpose and specialist classroom facilities for both the Junior and Prep School, and communal facilities such as a gymnasium, canteen and administration area. The proposed buildings are divided into a Prep School and Junior School Precinct, arranged around landscaped courtyards and connected by a “piazza” concept of open play area. The piazza can be closed off from the precincts and also used as a driveway during peak drop off and pick up times.
A strong indoor / outdoor relationship of the classrooms to the natural environment was facilitated in the design, with framed views of the playing fields to the south, captured via placement of buildings and undercroft areas. On-site drop off / pick up traffic system was developed to minimise traffic on surrounding streets
