Early Learning Centre

Shore School Northbridge NSW
Value : $ 6 M , construction completed : 2002

The architecture, which is built around a central courtyard is purposely low scale to resonate with young children and early learning.  A sense of lightness is achieved via floating roofs, large glazed areas in contrast to brickwork and slenderness of structure.

The school is situated within a landscaped setting, and outdoor play areas form a pivotal role in the aspect of outdoor play through knolls, curved paths and shade structures.  Natural features of the site were the inspiration for the colours and finishes promoting an interesting stimulating environment for early education.

Surrounded by Landscape

The architecture is purposely low scale to resonate with young children and early learning. Due to the site and adjacent Shore Playing Fields, the school is situated within a landscaped setting. Low energy buildings have been orientated to maximise cross ventilation and daylight penetration while limiting heat gain. Classrooms are arranged around a central courtyard providing high levels of visibility.

A sense of lightness is achieved via floating roofs, large glazed areas in contrast to brickwork and slenderness of structure.

Landscaped outdoor play areas form a pivotal role in the aspect of outdoor play through knolls, curved paths and shade structures. Rain water tanks have been utilised to irrigate landscaped areas. Natural features of the site were the inspiration for the colours and finishes promoting an interesting stimulating environment for early education.
